Ovejas Sóller siguiendo a su líder
I posted some photos i had taken on my walk across the mountains from Soller to Diea. The scenes change over what is a leisurely 3 hour walk. At first we have a steep climb on a stone track that winds up the mountain to Ca Xoc, a boutique little hotel we once stayed in many years ago when we first came together to Soller. Then we go through a wooded path before we start the long descent into the beautiful mountain village of Diea which is famous for its artists, Robert Graves

Burros de Vacaciones
The pony can go places no four wheeled vehicle can in the Tramuntana mountains around Soller in Majorca and can often be seen pulling old trees through the terraces especially when the Olives are being pollard. Unlike the sheep and chickens they stop and stare straight at you not moving and inch. They come mainly in a shaggy brown coat but can be all colours and are most content grazing in the Olive terraces. The hardest part of this composition was the Olive trees which crea

'Catch me if you can.' The constant battle between birds of prey and victims. The bird rides the thermals searching then suddenly stops and hovers the check out what they have seen and then swoops to capture its lunch. The prey senses the bird and freezes pretending they are not there, then its a race between the bird and the prey. Who wins and who loses is often down to speed and cover. Sigue al líder (Follow the Leader)
I have always been fascinated to watch flocks of birds in flight and the formations that they form. I remeber the first time i saw geese in their distinctive V shape cutting across the sky. I tried here to capture this flock spirit and also the leader's control over their flock. Acrylic on canvas 47cm x 40cm June 2017 #flockofbirds #majorca #nativeart #art

'Grandes pájaros que vuelan a través del cielo'
As they say, 'got the tee shirt!' We choose to try our local tee shirt man in Soller and see what he could do with the painting and here i am wearing the result. OK he did it portait and it should have been landscape and the wording wasn't the right size on the bottom and was far too big but the image worked so now to think about doing the works so they can be sold online on demand. What next; bags, mugs, cards? #flockofbirds #majorca #art #nativeart

'Ovejas en las terrazas de Olivo en Soller'
The mountains around Soller Valley are full of the clanging bells of the sheep as they graze on what little grass there is. Each movement results in the bell clanging which makes spotting them easy but its a good job there are not large herds of them! They roam the steep old arabic terraces which are planted with old Olive trees which are knurled and twisted with age and hard pruning. The trees themselves are pieces of natural architecture each unique and some hundreds of yea

'Cabra de montaña mallorquina en la cima del mundo'
This painting was inspired by my walk between Valldemossa and Deià in or should i say on top, of Serra de Tramuntana Mountains of Majorca. First the bus from Soller to Valldemossa which on a clear sunny day was full of walkers. Then the steady and often hard ascent to the top which at some 927 metre (3100 feet) is not easy, But well worth it as the views are spectacular from the ridge. You can see half of the island with Palma to the south, Andratx to the east, Soller to the
