The Dancers of Soller

The local dancing in Soller is reminiscent of Breton or Celtic in its origins and style. The women wear traditional scarves and aprons over long skirts and are very plain in their look. The men wear pantaloons tight waistcoats and full sleeve shirts. The band has drums and what can best be described as small bagpipes. The dancing is full of spins and twirls and in a group often in a circle.

Any excuse and the locals flock to the main square to dance and socialise.

The painting was inspired by the dancers love of just that dancing, old and young and full love and respect of their traditions.
